Time Off [1]
Time off gives you time away from work to rest, relax, recover from illness or take care of personal matters. For more information, go to Insight [2].
Bereavement
You are eligible for five days off in the case of a death in your immediate family, which includes step relations and in-laws. You also receive one day off if your pet (dog, cat or bird) passes away.
This leave is paid.
Birthday
Take a day to celebrate you! Your birthday counts as a paid holiday. The day off must be taken within two weeks (before or after) of your birthday date. Just be sure to coordinate your time off with your manager.
Domestic Violence
You can take 10 days of paid time off every calendar year if you, your child or a household member has experienced or been threatened with domestic or sexual violence. You can use the time from work to seek medical attention for physical or psychological injuries, obtain services from a victim services organization, obtain psychological or other professional counseling, relocate (temporarily or permanently) and/or seek legal or law enforcement assistance, including time relating to legal proceedings.
Family Support Time
We know that having an elderly family member or another dependent who you need to care for adds additional stress to your life. To help you manage these kinds of family situations, we provide four weeks of paid time away per fiscal year for you to provide care and support for a qualified family member (spouse/domestic partner, child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandparent-in-law or sibling).
Due to COVID-19, we're temporarily expanding this program to address challenges related to child care. You can use family support time for child care for dependents under age 18. This includes if your child care provider, schools or camps are closed, or if your child is sick or needs other care such as school support or supervision. This option will expire on July 31, 2022.
Jury Duty
You will be granted jury duty as requested by the courts. Jury duty leaves of absence are granted for the duration of required jury service.
You are paid for the duration of the jury duty.
You are paid up to 3 days per year for witness leave.
Paternity
If you are a new birth father, partner or adoptive father, you are eligible for four weeks off after the birth of your child, which must be taken within 12 months.
This leave is paid.
Sick Time
Regular full-time employees accrue sick time at the rate of 80 hours (10 days) per calendar year. Sick time can be used for medical appointments, illness or to care for a sick child, parent, spouse, domestic partner or the child of a domestic partner.
If you are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more (but less than 40 hours), you accrue sick time on a prorated basis. If you are regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week, you do not earn sick time but may be eligible for statutory leaves depending on your province. Unused sick time is not paid out if you leave Intuit or if you change from regular status to temporary, contract, flex-time or seasonal status.
Every January 1, you will receive 10 sick days. You accrue a maximum of 320 hours (40 days) of sick leave. Once you accrue 320 hours, you will not accrue any more sick leave until you use some of the time and your accrued hours have been reduced below 320. You may not use these hours as additional vacation.
Vacation
You accrue vacation at a specific rate per pay period, based on how long you’ve worked at Intuit. Your vacation time is prorated based on your hire date.

Vacation Accrual
- Start date through day before second anniversary: 1.25 days per month = 15 days per year (120 hours)
- Second anniversary through day before fifth anniversary: 1.67 days per month = 20 days per year (160 hours)
- Fifth anniversary through day before 15th anniversary: 2.08 days per month = 25 days per year (200 hours)
- 15th anniversary and beyond: 2.5 days per month = 30 days per year (240 hours)
Seasonal and Intern Employees
Seasonal and intern employees accrue vacation and vacation pay in accordance with their minimum entitlements under applicable employment standards legislation.
If you convert from seasonal to regular status, any accrued vacation time will be paid to you at the time of conversion and you will begin your earned vacation from the date that you became a regular employee. Vacation entitlements are based on the date you became a regular employee.
